Our client is at the cutting edge of innovation and the largest global manufacturer of load banks and power test solutions. Their products and equipment replicate real world demands of power system infrastructure for mission critical power applications such as Datacentres, Healthcare, Microgrids, and large commercial buildings where the power must stay on, even if the grid fails.

Lead the design team and drive New Product Developments to deliver the new global product pipeline and the most complex engineered-to-order (ETO) load banks including portable, permanent and trailerised versions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide knowledge, technical leadership, and professionalism in the area of electrical and mechanical systems for the purpose of developing power test solutions.
  • Manage the engineering team workflow including: Costing & pre-quote analysis, order processing, creation of production and engineering documents, approvals, and bills of materials (BOM).
  • Drive consistency in global design in the areas of process and tools, “one team, one way to work.”
  • Deliver standardised design outputs to facilitate design anywhere, build anywhere strategy.
  • Work with Global teams, utilising the combined strengths as a competitive business advantage.
  • Identify business opportunities through regular interaction with customers.
  • Assess innovations and new offerings in the context of the company products & services.
  • Evaluate emerging application needs with company products to assess gaps & opportunities.
  • Review & evaluate sales order requirements/specifications and other customer supplied materials to propose potential solutions and configure and/or develop load banks.
  • Work with the Sales teams and customers to resolve any requirements not clearly defined to achieve an actionable product specification.
  • Delegate projects within the team to optimise resource utilisation and provide cross-training to increase product knowledge across the team.
  • Provide project post-release value engineering, product improvement and cost reduction support to meet product cost and margin targets.
  • Provide support to Sales & Applications Engineering within the pre-sales phase. Establish factory cost for configured or engineered to order solutions.
  • Drive periodic, scheduled training sessions to Sales, Customer Service, and other internal teams to increase product knowledge.
  • Prepare engineering submittals for filing product with UL and CSA agencies to obtain approvals. Direct third-party product certification and testing where required.
  • Ensure all product safety and quality requirements are met for all applicable Global regions.
  • Provide realistic but aggressive project delivery timescales.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and promote a proactive approach to identify and mitigate potential hazards with new product manufacturing processes in global manufacturing locations.
  • Ability to travel internationally to work in-person with development teams in the US, UK, India, and/or customers up to 65%.
  • Promote and implement the mission, vision, and values of the business.

About You:

  • Demonstrated experience developing and creating new electromechanical products preferably HV, MV & LV circuits linked to load banks, gensets, transformers and/or grid connect power transmission circuits and systems.
  • Min. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Masters preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License (preferred).
  • 10+ years’ professional experience within OEM electrical or mechanical domains.
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols, quality control, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience designing to UL, CSA, NEC, CE, and other global safety agency requirements.
  • Understanding of seismic, wind & vibration calculations to support equipment designs (IBC).
  • Knowledge of 2D & 3D CAD, ERP systems and Microsoft Applications (particularly Excel).
  • Creative & flexible personality to manage changing responsibilities and customer requirements.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills required to interface with multiple level internal/external stakeholders, customers and vendors.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Industry-specific knowledge in the electrical testing space is a plus.
