Our client is at the cutting edge of innovation and the largest global manufacturer of load banks and power test solutions. Their products and equipment replicate real world demands of power system infrastructure for mission critical power applications such as Datacentres, Healthcare, Microgrids, and large commercial buildings where the power must stay on, even if the grid fails.
Working within the New Product Development (NPD) team, you will be responsible for defining, developing and delivering new and enhanced products that meet the needs of customers in a timely and cost-efficient manner to the correct performance, legislation and quality standards. You will ensure design intent is realised through timely interaction and communication with key customers, suppliers and internal cross functional team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Concept creation using market and customer requirements data. Getting involved in voice of customer (VOC) exercises as and when required.
- Electrical design – lead the generation of electrical designs using suitable analysis tools and creation of electrical drawings, models and schematics using suitable CAD packages.
- Define, lead and support product FMEA’s, validation and testing programs as required.
- System integration – ensuring products are designed for manufacture (DFM) and meet the expected performance targets plus outputs.
- Creation of engineering technical specifications and BOM’s.
- Creation of test reports and technical documents to support future customer product use.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improvement to enhance future products by keeping abreast of new and emerging technologies.
- Ongoing system and process improvements to enhance working practices and drive department/business efficiency.
- Ensure product safety and compliance is achieved regarding agreed codes & standards (e.g. CE, UL, CSA).
About You:
- BSc / BEng electrical degree plus proven industrial and product experience.
- 5+ years working within an electrical/power systems design or NPD role.
- Understanding of HV, MV and LV circuits. Ideally electrical design experience linked to load banks, gensets, transformers and/or grid connect power transmission circuits and systems.
- Proficient/time served user of AutoCAD/SolidWorks Electrical plus Microsoft 365.
- Professional Engineering (PE) status (preferred).
- A strong personality with energy, drive, adaptability, problem solving and decision-making capability.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, comfortable presenting to and engaging with key multi-level stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Organised, self-disciplined, numerate, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver in a timely manner as required.
- Both people and process orientated to help drive and achieve common goals through relationship building and collaboration.
