Mechanical Assembly & Test Technician
Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 5:00pm (4-day working week)
Salary: Competitive / dependent on experience

Engineering Connect are recruiting for a Mechanical Assembly & Test Technician to join a well-established engineering manufacturer based in the Blackburn area.
This is a hands-on engineering position suited to someone with experience in mechanical fitting, assembly, hydraulics or a similar mechanical engineering environment.
The Role:
- Assembly of hydraulic cylinders from engineering drawings and specifications
- Checking measurements and tolerances during assembly
- Fault finding, diagnosing problems and carrying out repairs
- Pressure testing hydraulic cylinders to check for leaks and correct operation
- Setting up and operating hydraulic test equipment
- Ensuring finished products meet the required quality standards
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
The Person:
- Previous mechanical assembly, fitting or hydraulic experience
- Strong mechanical background and hands‑on ability
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings
- Good fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
- Able to work accurately and to high standards
- Hydraulic cylinder experience would be highly advantageous
- Hydraulic testing experience would be advantageous but is not essential
Hours are Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 5:00pm, giving you a 4-day working week with every Friday off. There is also overtime available payable at an enhanced rate and a salary banded system.
