The Engineering College of Technology (ECT) is excited to announce the expansion of our team with a new position. ECT has recently been established and registered in the UK. ECT is a sister company of the Australian based Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT). EIT is an engineering education and training specialist with more than 30 years of association with the engineering industry worldwide. EIT delivers 85 industry-driven accredited qualifications and professional development courses to students in over 160 countries. Students study on-campus and online using an innovative and interactive platform of learning.

About the Role

As a Course Leader (Academic Grade 7), you will play a pivotal role in leading the design, delivery, and continuous enhancement of a group of engineering courses. You will ensure these programs align with the college’s strategic vision, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards. In this role, you will oversee up to four courses, with a workload allocation of 0.25 FTE dedicated to leadership responsibilities, while the remaining 0.75 FTE will encompass teaching, research, and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of engineering courses.
  • Ensure programs meet college strategy, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee curriculum development, assessment strategies, and teaching methodologies.
  • Act as the primary contact for students, addressing academic concerns and enhancing student engagement.
  • Monitor student attendance, progression, and support mechanisms in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Lead and coordinate module coordinators, lecturers, and sessional staff.
  • Conduct periodic course reviews and ensure compliance with external and internal quality assurance processes.
  • Respond to student feedback, external examiner reports, and industry insights to drive course enhancements.
  • Support and contribute to teaching quality, curriculum innovation, and faculty mentorship.
  • Engage with industry professionals, accreditation bodies, and professional organisations to strengthen course reputation and employability prospects.
  • Serve on academic, administrative, and industry committees to uphold governance and quality standards.
  • Assist in student recruitment initiatives, including open days, outreach programs, and promotional activities.
  • Facilitate the mediation of academic misconduct cases and ensure adherence to ethical academic practices.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with significant experience in coordination duties, with a strong focus on the quality of programs. You will bring:

  • PhD in Industrial Automation or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching, curriculum development, and academic leadership in higher education.
  • Strong understanding of academic quality assurance and enhancement processes.
  • Proven leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage with industry partners and external stakeholders.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or willingness to obtain it.
  • Experience in programme leadership or course management.
  • Research and/or industry experience relevant to the engineering field.
