Location: Dudley, Salary: £14 - £15 per hour

Hours: Mon–Thu 08:00–16:15 (or 07:30–16:15) | Fri 08:00–15:30 (or 07:30–12:30) | Overtime as required

About the Role

Engineering @365 is recruiting a skilled Power Press Tool Setter / Operator for a leading precision engineering company in Dudley. In this hands-on role, you’ll set up and operate power presses ranging from 25T–400T (S & B, HME, Bentley, TOS), including forming, piercing, cropping, and progression/follow-through tooling. You’ll also set de-coilers, pedestal drillers (training provided), and carry out routine quality checks to ensure components meet exacting engineering tolerances. You’ll play a key role on the shop floor, troubleshooting press issues, maintaining high-quality standards, and supporting junior operators when needed. Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a proactive, team-focused attitude are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate power presses and associated tooling across multiple press types
  • Carry out routine quality checks using Verniers, callipers, plug gauges, and height gauges
  • Troubleshoot and resolve tooling, press settings, or production quality issues
  • Grind dies and punches (preferred but not essential)
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and inspect press guards
  • Record production output and quality inspection data accurately
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping in line with ISO 9001 standards
  • Follow all Health & Safety and PPE policies
  • Work flexible hours and overtime when required
  • Provide guidance and informal training to junior operators

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience setting and operating power presses across various tooling types
  • Valid Power Press Setter’s Certificate (RoSpa) — essential
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Competent with standard workshop and quality measuring tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and quality standards
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team to meet production targets
  • Good communication skills and reliability
