Laser Machinist (Setter / Operator) Loughborough £14.00 - £17.25 per hour DOE Afternoon Shift - Monday to Friday, 2:00pm - 10:00pm Permanent Position

Engineering @ 365 is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a specialist manufacturing business based in Loughborough. Due to continued growth and increased production demand, they are looking to add an experienced Laser Machinist (Setter / Operator) to their afternoon shift team.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Laser Machinist with experience in setting and operating CNC laser cutting machines within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be confident in machine set‑up, loading programs, adjusting parameters, and ensuring machines run efficiently to produce high‑quality precision components. You will work from engineering drawings to manufacture parts to tight tolerances while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines safely and efficiently
  • Load, run, and monitor CNC laser programs
  • Carry out machine set‑up and material loading/unloading
  • Adjust machine parameters to ensure optimal cutting performance
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and job specifications
  • Carry out quality checks on finished components
  • Identify and resolve minor machine or cutting issues
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to meet targets
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Laser Machinist / CNC Laser Setter or Operator
  • Ability to set and run CNC laser cutting machinery confidently
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and measurements
  • Experience working with sheet metal or similar materials advantageous
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable, proactive, and safety‑conscious approach
