Engineering @ 365 is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their production team. Due to continued growth and increased workload, our client is looking for a motivated and reliable individual to support the build and assembly of specialist products to a high engineering standard.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for building and assembling products in line with the planned production schedule while ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety standards are maintained at all times.
The successful candidate will have previous mechanical assembly or fitting experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment and be confident working from technical drawings and build packs.
Key Responsibilities
- Build products to the required quality and engineering standards
- Ensure the correct top-level TQ number has been selected before assembly
- Check build packs and drawings are the correct issue level prior to assembly
- Book all working hours accurately using the SAP system
- Inspect all parts prior to fitting to ensure they are correct and free from damage or defects
- Assemble products within standard build times and quality expectations
- Raise MRNs and report any assembly, BOM, or drawing issues to the Production Manager
- Carry out self-inspection of completed work
- Report any production or quality concerns promptly
- Assist other departments when required
- Carry out maintenance duties as requested
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment
- Work towards production deadlines, targets, and objectives
- Support cost control and continuous improvement initiatives within the department
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Assembly role
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Good problem-solving skills and proactive approach to work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of health & safety procedures within engineering environments
- SAP experience would be advantageous but not essential
