Engineering @365 is working with a leading engineering and manufacturing business who, due to continued growth, is seeking an HVAC&R Design Engineer to join their expanding engineering team.
About the role: This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Design Engineer to support the development of existing products while contributing to the design of new HVAC&R and thermofluid systems across multiple product ranges. The role will involve the design and development of refrigeration systems and related teaching apparatus, working closely with manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to deliver innovative and high-performing engineering solutions. This opportunity would suit an experienced engineer with strong HVAC&R design knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a practical, hands-on approach to engineering development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and develop refrigeration and thermal management system designs for specialist engineered equipment
- Generate 3D models, technical layouts, and manufacturing drawings using CAD software
- Carry out engineering calculations relating to system performance, energy transfer, and fluid dynamics
- Specify suitable mechanical and refrigeration components for system applications
- Ensure products and designs meet industry legislation, safety requirements, and engineering standards
- Assist with prototype assembly, system trials, and performance evaluation
- Work collaboratively with internal departments including production, purchasing, and quality assurance
- Prepare technical documentation, operating information, and engineering support materials
- Identify opportunities for design improvements and product optimisation
- Support ongoing product innovation and continuous engineering development
What weβre looking for:
- Previous experience within HVAC, refrigeration, cooling systems, or thermodynamic equipment design
- Experience with Solidworks and AutoCAD
- Strong technical understanding of thermal systems, heat exchange, and fluid behaviour
- Experience delivering engineering projects from concept through to production
- Knowledge of engineering compliance, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Hands-on engineering approach with practical design awareness
- Confident producing technical reports and engineering documentation
