A well-established engineering and manufacturing business is looking for an experienced Electrical Team Leader to join their production team. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced electrician, panel wirer, electrical fitter or electrical assembler who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day workload of the electrical department while continuing to work hands-on alongside the team.

The role would suit someone who enjoys being involved in the detail, has strong electrical knowledge, and is confident taking ownership of workloads, priorities and production issues.

The Role

As an Electrical Team Leader, you will lead and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the electrical department, currently consisting of panel wirers/builders and electrical fitters. You will work closely with the Production Manager and wider production team to plan workloads, allocate work and ensure electrical builds are completed on time and to the required quality standards. This is not a purely supervisory position. You will be expected to work hands-on alongside the team, supporting with panel building, wiring, electrical fitting, assembly and fault-finding where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the day-to-day activities of the electrical department
  • Plan, organise and prioritise electrical workloads to meet production schedules and project deadlines
  • Review upcoming production requirements and establish clear priorities and deadlines for the team
  • Allocate work based on workload, individual skills and production requirements
  • Monitor progress throughout production and identify potential delays, issues or resource requirements
  • Liaise with the Production Manager and wider production team to ensure electrical work remains aligned with production requirements
  • Liaise with the purchasing/buying team regarding electrical materials, components and stock requirements
  • Monitor the progress of electrical builds, control panel wiring and electrical installation work
  • Work hands-on alongside the team, carrying out panel wiring, control panel assembly, electrical fitting and associated electrical assembly
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings
  • Assist with fault-finding and resolving electrical and production issues
  • Support the training and development of team members
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, processes and efficiency within the electrical department

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within an electrical manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment
  • Strong hands-on experience in panel wiring, control panel building, electrical assembly and/or electrical fitting
  • Previous experience supervising, leading or coordinating an electrical team would be highly advantageous
  • Experience working to production schedules and deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple jobs
  • Good understanding of electrical materials, components and stock requirements
  • Confident communicating with production, purchasing, engineering and other internal departments
  • Hands-on and practical approach, with a willingness to work alongside the team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of production issues
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly when working on electrical assemblies and control panels

Desirable

  • Previous experience in an Electrical Team Leader, Electrical Supervisor or similar position
  • Experience within a machinery manufacturing or special purpose machinery environment
  • Experience working with control panels and industrial electrical systems
