Engineering @365 is working with a leading manufacturing organisation who, due to continued growth and investment in capital projects, is seeking a Development Manager to support site improvements and equipment installations.

About the role

This is a hands-on, project-focused role responsible for the safe installation of capital equipment and delivery of site improvement projects from concept through to production handover. You will work closely with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. This opportunity would suit a technically strong, electrically biased engineer with project management experience who enjoys problem-solving and taking ownership of complex engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess project briefs for feasibility
  • Specify new equipment and obtain supplier quotations
  • Work closely with suppliers on equipment design and technical solutions
  • Provide senior management with project costings and timelines
  • Manage projects from inception through to completion and handover
  • Ensure all projects meet safety, cost, quality, and time objectives
  • Take a hands-on role in installation and commissioning activities
  • Manage contractors and support a small internal team
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations and company procedures

What we're looking for

  • Time-served engineer with an electrical bias (HNC / HND or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of mechatronics, PLC systems, servo drives, and control systems
  • Experience with AutoCAD (2D) and layout design
  • Proven experience in equipment installation and commissioning
  • Strong supplier and contractor management skills
  • Experience leading or supervising a small team
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Willingness to travel to suppliers when required
  • Strong understanding of health & safety compliance
