Are you a hands-on engineer with solid experience in both mechanical and electrical servicing of CNC machining centres? We’re looking for a proactive and skilled Field Service Engineer to join our growing team of specialists supporting advanced manufacturing equipment across the UK.
About the Role:
You’ll be responsible for the installation, servicing, fault-finding, and maintenance of CNC machining centres (vertical, horizontal, and 5-axis), working across a variety of customer sites. This is a field-based role, requiring regular UK-wide travel and occasional overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and commission CNC machines at customer facilities.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance and breakdown support.
- Provide technical support and training to customers as needed.
- Accurately document service activities and report findings.
- Maintain strong communication with the service team and customers.
Requirements:
- Proven experience servicing CNC machining centres (3, 4, or 5-axis).
- Strong mechanical engineering skills – bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics.
- Solid electrical knowledge – wiring, drives, motors, control systems (e.g. Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenheim).
- Able to read mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Self-motivated, well-organised, and confident working independently.
Desirable:
- Formal engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent).
- Experience with machine tools across aerospace, automotive, or precision industries.
- Familiarity with PLC fault-finding or software updates.
