The Role

We’re working with a leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor to find a skilled and driven Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team based in Coalville. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a well-established business known for delivering high-quality projects across the Midlands.

You’ll be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of multiple construction schemes, ensuring accurate financial control and effective cost management from tender through to final account. The role offers clear scope for progression and is ideal for someone looking to develop within a company that values high standards and rewards hard work.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Processing and reconciling invoices with delivery notes
  • Conducting regular site visits and liaising with production teams
  • Assisting with tender reviews and value engineering exercises
  • Providing early cost advice on variations and authorisation controls
  • Reviewing drawings and ensuring correct documentation is in place
  • Managing end-to-end commercial elements of projects, ensuring accuracy and profitability
  • Analysing rates, prices, and variations or compensation events
  • Identifying and resolving debt risks, working toward practical financial solutions
  • Forecasting monthly and annual profit margins throughout project lifecycles
  • Supporting the safety team to ensure policy compliance and on-site safety awareness
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and subcontractors
  • Assisting in procurement and allocation of subcontractor packages

What You’ll Bring

  • HNC Level 4 or equivalent qualification in Construction or Building
  • Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the construction or civil engineering sectors
  • Minimum 3 A-Levels at Grade B or above (or equivalent BTEC)
  • GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional conduct
