We’re supporting a well-established civil engineering contractor in their search for a hands-on Health and Safety Advisor across the Oxford region. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving safe working practices on live sites, supporting project teams, and ensuring compliance with legislation and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and internal audits to ensure compliance
  • Advise teams on safe working practices, legislation updates, and compliance expectations
  • Lead incident and accident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Prepare and review RAMS, COSHH assessments, and Construction Phase Plans
  • Work closely with clients, regulatory bodies, and insurers on project-specific safety issues
  • Support pre-construction planning to ensure safety is built into every project
  • Maintain and improve company safety systems and accreditations
  • Deliver briefings, toolbox talks, and mentor junior safety staff
  • Identify opportunities to improve procedures and raise overall safety standards

What You’ll Bring

  • NEBOSH, IOSH, NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Health & Safety
  • CSCS card
  • Experience in construction, groundworks, civil engineering, or new build housing
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence teams at all levels
  • Proven reporting, auditing, and investigation skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region
