The Role
Our client is a well-established contractor operating within the foundations, piling, and geotechnical sectors, delivering technically complex and specialist projects across the UK. Due to continued growth and a strong forward order book, they are now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take a key role in supporting operational delivery and commercial performance across multiple projects. This is a senior, autonomous position, working closely with Directors, senior leadership, and site-based teams. You will have full commercial responsibility across live projects, ensuring robust cost control, contract compliance, and strong commercial outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full commercial responsibility for multiple foundations and piling projects from pre-contract through to final account
- Provide commercial leadership and support to Project Managers and operational teams across live sites
- Manage contracts under JCT and bespoke forms, including variations, change control, and commercial negotiations
- Produce and manage CVRs, cost forecasts, and commercial reports to senior leadership
- Manage client, subcontractor, and supplier commercial relationships
- Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risk across projects
- Maintain a regular site presence and attend project and commercial meetings as required
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within foundations, piling, geotechnical, or ground engineering
- Strong working knowledge of JCT contracts and commercial best practice
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with significant commercial value
- Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with Directors, clients, and site teams
- A proactive and commercially astute approach to project delivery
