We are seeking a Project Controller to join our Newcastle office.

Role Responsibilities

  • Project Controlling: Autonomous financial administration, management and controlling of a portfolio of projects, including:
    • Adhere to the monthly close process including results finalised and presented in the agreed format and aligned to the group timeline.
    • Work with the offshore project accounting team based in Manila to make sure Billing, PO’s and Service Entry Receipts are processed in a timely manner.
    • Liaise with local accountants (internal or external) for the processing of revenue accrual and sub-consultant accruals monthly as per IFRS15 accounting rules.
    • Identify and monthly report risks and opportunities of each entity.
    • Monthly tracking / reporting of business booked vs the agreed targets.
    • Monthly preparation of the commercial outlook including appropriate challenges where necessary.
    • Other Operating Cost reporting including productivity analysis.
    • Prepare monthly performance reporting decks to be presented to Regional Directors, MD Europe.
    • Collaborate with the local teams to manage cash generation including WIP, Billing and DSO reviews.
    • Point of contact for the MD Europe and each Regional Director regarding finance matters.
    • Assist Regional Directors with preparation of RMC and pricing proposal for significant tenders.
    • Provide business partnering support plus ad hoc analysis/advice where required.
    • Prepare budget/forecast submission including FTE review and SG&A assumptions in collaboration with regional directors and local accountants.
  • System Implementation: Support implementation of Planisware within European entities. Support SAP 4/HANA implementation for new European entities.

Role Requirements

  • Accounting degree equivalent to UK CIMA/ACCA qualification >10 years’ experience with 5 years in a similar position.
  • In depth experience of financial accounting.
  • Experienced in managing budgets/budgetary control.
  • Experienced communicator to non-Finance people.
  • Proactive, dynamic, and highly resourceful, with a strong initiative driven mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective collaborator who works well within multidisciplinary and culturally diverse teams.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Confident in presenting viewpoints, offering clear, well-reasoned arguments when challenged.
  • Excellent knowledge of SAP 4/HANA.
  • Knowledge of Planisware.
  • Excellent knowledge in office automation applications (Office 365, mainly Excel), with knowledge of SAP.
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS Project Accounting.
  • Previous experience working within the consulting or construction industry.
  • Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.
