We are looking for a Smart Metering Manager to lead our operational delivery across gas and electricity metering. In this role, you will drive team performance, improve processes, and ensure we meet the highest standards of service. Your leadership will directly impact how we serve our customers and meet our regulatory commitments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the smart metering program, ensuring efficient deployment and management of gas and electricity meters across the portfolio.
- Drive team performance through clear objectives, regular feedback, and measurable KPIs aligned with service delivery standards.
- Partner with the Market Ops Improvement Manager to identify and implement operational efficiencies and best practices that enhance productivity.
- Ensure compliance with OFGEM SLAs, Guaranteed Standards of Practice, and industry regulations by working closely with the Regulations Manager and proactively completing RFIs.
- Oversee accurate data collection and reporting from smart meters, implementing quality control measures to maintain data integrity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Service, Complaints, and Billing teams to resolve issues and facilitate smooth operations.
- Coach and develop your team through Personal Development Plans, regular skill assessments, cross‑training opportunities, and a culture of ownership and accountability.
Qualifications
- Proven management experience within the energy sector, ideally in smart metering or a related operational function.
- Strong understanding of the customer lifecycle and interdependencies between onboarding and interfacing departments.
- Working knowledge of industry codes and frameworks such as SEC, BSC, UNC, MRA, DCUSA, SMICOP and Xoserve flows is highly desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with a track record of delivering accurate work within tight deadlines.
- A practical, solution‑oriented mindset with experience in process improvement methodologies.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a non‑technical understanding of software interfaces and incident resolution paths.
