Purpose of the job
Working as part of the Energy Costing Line Manager, Retail Operations department, Sales, Billing, Finance, IS, Legal.
External: TSO/DNO, Elexon, Xoserve, Ofgem, Industry pricing/working/governance groups, External Consultancies, External Auditors.
Knowledge and skills
- Hard Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including VBA.
- PowerBI.
- SQL.
- Python – Proven experience developing Jupyter notebooks and .py scripts for ad‑hoc reporting and routine tasks.
- Experience with Git and environment management.
- Ability to demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving, especially using creativity to resolve novel problems to the business’s advantage.
- Ability to present technical information to a range of stakeholders.
- Coaching or mentoring others.
- Demonstrates ability to operate as a functional steward, shaping modelling practices and guiding others through complex analytical and methodological issues.
- Knowledge of commodity markets.
- Knowledge of retail pricing policies/methodologies and systems.
- Knowledge of elements that contribute to final delivered prices and cost items incurred by business in course of gas and electricity supply.
Experience
- Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex environment.
- Experience of retail pricing techniques and systems would be highly advantageous.
- Experience of coaching, mentoring or training others.
- Proven ability to undertake analysis of complex problems using regression, time‑series analysis and scenario simulations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a degree level qualification in an analytical discipline, or specific related experience.
