Job Description
FTC (Maternity Cover) – Finance Assistant (Llanberis, North Wales)
First Hydro Company part of ENGIE is one of the UK's most dynamic electricity generators, responsible for the management and operation of the pumped storage plants at Dinorwig and Ffestiniog in the Snowdonia region of Wales.

We are seeking an organised and detail orientated Finance Assistant to on a Fixed Term Contract basis to end of November 2026. This role will be based at Dinorwig Power Station with consideration for occasional working from home.
Purpose of the Role:
As a Finance Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely recording of transactions, supporting the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Assistant, and collaborating with various departments including Procurement, HR, and Admin as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately record and process purchase ledger invoices.
- Reconcile supplier statements and ensure timely payments.
- Manage weekly purchase ledger payment runs and BACs file preparation.
- Process employee expense claims and procurement card transactions.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and verify supplier details.
- Prepare month-end accruals, prepayment journals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Handle sundry sales invoices, overdue statements, and cash receipt journals.
- Manage petty cash system and respond to expenditure queries.
- Support company targets and contribute to departmental goals.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
- Double entry bookkeeping and VAT knowledge.
- Understanding of cost codes, balance sheet, and profit and loss categorization.
- Familiarity with computer-based financial packages and spreadsheets.
- Strong numerical skills and ability to prioritize work.
- Experience in bookkeeping, purchase ledger, and computerized accounting systems.
- Ability to drive (for bank-related tasks).
Qualifications:
- Required: Basic double entry knowledge; Maths GCSE or equivalent.
- Desirable: AAT or equivalent.
