We look for a highly experienced individual to lead and manage major electrical engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for running major projects and lead team management in the development, design and coordination of engineering project services for mechanical or electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities and building services.
  • Carry out cost and profit diagnosis on projects including feasibility studies and preparation of fee bids.
  • Review status feedback from project personnel and external parties, modify schedules or plans as required and prepare project reports for management, clients or others.
  • Develop and specify applications of controls, instruments and operating systems for building engineering services.
  • Survey, test and report on existing electrical/mechanical installations.
  • Specify activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation and operational testing conforms to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Represent the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors.
  • Ensure engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards.
  • Make day‑to‑day decisions on project progress, liaise directly with clients and provide advice.
  • Ensure risk and performance monitoring analysis takes place through effective systems of internal control and delegation.
  • Lead coordination of engineering services.
  • Take a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions.
  • Support the delivery of projects in accordance with the RED Project Delivery Process from project management, financial management, QA/QC and technical review perspectives.

Qualifications

  • BSc/BEng in an appropriate engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • MCIBSE/MIEE or HND/HNC + relevant experience or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineering status.
  • Significant experience of specification design for a range of building types.
  • Sound knowledge and working application of key health and safety issues and legislation.
  • Appreciation and working knowledge of contract and business law.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications: Word, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to use calculation and spreadsheet software.
  • Good understanding of BS standards, UK regulations and codes.
  • Experience and understanding of invoicing and credit control.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Chairing and facilitation of meetings.
  • Background in consulting or construction preferred.
  • Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.
  • Act in an ethical manner and follow the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines of the Group.
