As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician at First Hydro, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our power station equipment, directly contributing to our mission of sustainable energy production.
What You Will Do
- Perform routine preventative and breakdown maintenance on critical power station plant and equipment
- Conduct fault diagnosis on complex mechanical systems and provide effective solutions
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using our works management system
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure safe and efficient handover of work
- Act as a Competent Person under First Hydro Company and National Grid Safety Rules
- Lead working parties of up to 7 staff members on specific maintenance activities
- Ensure all work adheres to quality, health, safety, and environmental policies
What You Will Bring To The Role
- Completed a recognized apprenticeship in mechanical engineering
- Hold City & Guilds Part III, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in a mechanical discipline
- Possess an IOSH Working Safely Certificate or equivalent
- Demonstrate practical knowledge of mechanical plant and equipment maintenance
- Have experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and pressure systems
- Skilled in basic rigging and lifting operations
- Proficient in IT systems for managing computerized work activity
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work at all levels
- Experience with workshop machines and welding techniques is advantageous
- BTEC National Certificate in an engineering discipline is desirable
Job Based In
This role requires on-site presence at our power station facilities in Dinorwig, Llanberis. You may occasionally be required to work at other First Hydro Company sites.
