You will work at First Hydro Power Station, one of the UK's most important flexible renewable energy facilities. First Hydro is part of ENGIE's Renewables and Flexible Power activities. It plays a key role in balancing the UK's electricity grid and delivering clean, reliable power when it is needed most.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • - Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on power station plant and equipment
  • - Responding to breakdowns and diagnosing faults on complex mechanical systems
  • - Recording all maintenance work accurately in the computerised works management system
  • - Acting as a Competent Person under First Hydro Company and National Grid Safety Rules
  • - Leading working groups of up to six or seven people on planned and reactive tasks
  • - Coordinating safe handovers with production, shift, and engineering teams
  • - Supporting the development of apprentices and new team members

Who Are You

You bring hands-on mechanical experience and a commitment to safe, high-quality work. You enjoy solving problems and take pride in keeping critical equipment running reliably.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • - Completed an apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
  • - A City and Guilds Part Three, a Level 3 qualification, or an equivalent mechanical certification
  • - A health and safety qualification such as the Working Safely Certificate
  • - Practical experience maintaining heavy mechanical plant, hydraulic systems, and pressure equipment
  • - Knowledge of lifting operations, rigging, and workshop machinery including welding
  • - Familiarity with legislation covering lifting equipment and work equipment safety
  • - Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills
  • - A national certificate or higher national certificate in engineering is a welcome addition

Location

This role is based on site at our Ffestiniog site. The position is fully on site. You may occasionally be asked to support work at other First Hydro facilities.
