We’re looking for a Delivery Lead / Engineering Manager to own a portfolio of products and be accountable for their delivery end-to-end. Working closely with the Head of AI / Engineering, you’ll make sure the right engineering practices and architecture are in place across your portfolio, that delivery is predictable and high-quality, and that the teams building these products are set up to succeed. This is a leadership role that blends delivery accountability, engineering oversight, and stakeholder management. You’ll be the person who connects the dots — across teams, clients, and external suppliers — to keep products moving, risks visible, and outcomes on track. You won’t be the deepest hands-on coder, but you’ll bring good engineering judgement to hold teams to a high bar on practices, architecture, and quality.

Experience & Background

  • Proven delivery leadership — owning and shipping a portfolio of software products, accountable for outcomes, timelines, and quality.
  • Strong engineering management background — leading teams and holding them to sound engineering practices and architecture.
  • Solid technical judgement — able to challenge and guide on architecture, delivery approach, and trade-offs without needing to be the hands-on builder.
  • Experience engaging clients and external stakeholders — managing expectations, communicating progress and risk, and building trust.
  • Track record working with external suppliers and partners — coordinating delivery across organisational boundaries.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, AI-first engineering environment and championing modern, AI-enabled ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery Accountability - Own delivery across a portfolio of products — accountable for outcomes, quality, and timelines. Keep delivery predictable: surface risks early, remove blockers, and drive issues to resolution. Balance priorities across the portfolio and make pragmatic trade-off decisions.
  • Engineering Practices & Architecture - Ensure the right engineering practices are in place and consistently applied across teams. Provide architecture oversight — making sure solutions are sound, scalable, and fit for purpose. Hold teams to a high bar on quality, maintainability, and delivery discipline. Be a trusted point of contact for clients — communicating progress, managing expectations, and building confidence. Manage external suppliers and partners, coordinating delivery across organisational boundaries. Translate between business stakeholders and engineering teams — keeping everyone aligned on goals, scope, and risk.
  • Team Leadership & Enablement - Lead and support engineering teams across the portfolio, helping them deliver effectively. Champion AI coworking tooling and modern ways of working as the default across your teams. Partner with Product, Architecture, DevOps, and QA to deliver reliable, well-built products. Report on delivery health and portfolio status to leadership — progress, risks, and trade-offs. Continuously improve delivery practices, ways of working, and team effectiveness.

What Good Looks Like (first 6–12 months)

  • A clear, trusted view of delivery health across the portfolio, with risks surfaced early.
  • Consistent engineering practices and sound architecture applied across teams.
  • Strong, confident relationships with clients and external suppliers.
  • Predictable, high-quality delivery without slowing the pace of development.
  • Teams enabled and supported, with AI-first ways of working embedded.

Skills & Attributes

  • Outcome-focused delivery leader — accountable, organised, and calm under pressure.
  • Strong engineering judgement balanced with the ability to delegate the hands-on work.
  • Excellent communicator — clear and credible with clients, suppliers, and engineers alike.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and competing priorities across a portfolio.
  • Collaborative and trusted — builds alignment across teams and stakeholders.
