BIM Project Lead - London, Bicester or Newcastle
RED ENGINEERING DESIGN LIMITED is an expanding international M&E consultancy with a proven track record in low energy design, focused on providing excellent design solutions to clients.
We cover the entire life cycle of any building project, with our broad capability offering saving our clients time, money and effort.
We now seek an experienced BIM Project Lead to be based out of our London, Bicester or Newcastle office.
- Role Responsibilities
- Communicate project resourcing requirements to the Local BIM Manager.
- Liaise with design teams including supply chain to ensure that technical information and outputs are produced and delivered in line with information requirements and industry standards.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders such as client, project managers, and design managers.
- Lead the mobilisation process by setting up CDEs, model and drawing templates, 2D and 3D content.
- Interpret and implement client requirements on project assignments.
- Coordinate with project teams to integrate BIM processes into project planning and execution.
- Lead the production and maintenance of BIM models, drawings, schedules and specifications using Autodesk BIM360/ACC, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Lead the production and maintenance of interrogation and coordination model files including clash management activities, reports, fly-throughs and other outputs using Autodesk Navisworks Manage and Autodesk BIM360/ACC.
- Provide technical support and training to team members on BIM software and best practices.
- Act as the client-facing Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for all CAD and BIM aspects of a design project.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers and contractors to resolve design and construction issues.
- Work closely with the Local, Regional and Global BIM leaders to contribute to training and development plans for all 2D and 3D modelling staff and implement strategy on projects.
- Conduct regular BIM coordination meetings and clash detection sessions with multidisciplinary teams, setting agendas, tracking progress, achievements, programme, risks and distributing actions.
- Attend project meetings and presentations either in person or via video‑calls to present live 3D modelling progress, clash management reports, walk‑throughs etc to project teams and client teams.
- Ensure compliance with client information requirements, industry standards and company policies by auditing 2D CAD drawings and 3D models, including file naming conventions, attributes and values.
- Have an innovative and holistic approach to sustainability in construction design and modelling.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation within the BIM framework.
- Act in an ethical manner and follow the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines.
- Exercise straightforward technical and professional judgement using company policy, standards and procedures to guide actions and decisions.
- Role Requirements
- Fluent in English and excellent communication skills.
- Leadership skills (previous team leadership experience essential) and excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to cope with periods of heavy client workload, strong drive to deliver and lead others to deliver.
- Excellent attention to detail, self‑motivated, proven track record in the creation of project BIM Execution Plans, ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
- Excellent knowledge of authoring software such as Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Auto CAD and coordination software such as Autodesk Navisworks Manage, and CDEs such as Autodesk BIM 360 and ACC, with focus on MEP and multidisciplinary process‑focused construction project environments.
- BSc/Eng, BTEC National Dip in Building Services, Construction, BIM or equivalent demonstrable experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum of five years experience using Autodesk Revit in project environments and proven track record of 3D modelling and coordination on construction projects.
- Proven track record of 3D modelling and coordination on construction projects within CAD/BIM environments.
Desirable
- Relevant qualifications or certificates in BS EN ISO19650, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk Auto CAD.
- Extensive experience working under BS EN ISO19650, PAS 1192, BS8888, or equivalent.
- Experience working in a contractors drawing office (site based) producing coordinated construction/installation workshop drawings using 3D modelling software.
- Experience in a global consultancy ideally with construction phase experience, Stage 0 - Stage 5 and beyond.
- Proven track record in setting up and managing BIM Model management platforms / CDEs i. e. Autodesk BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, etc.
- Proven track record in the creation of Project BIM Execution Plans (BEP).
- Proven track record in the development and management of company CAD/BIM standards and alignment to industry AEC standards.
- Sound knowledge of key regional, UK and European H&S issues and legislation.
- Previous experience of working in a global business (desirable).
- A valid CSCS card (desirable).
