Join the team at Engel, an exceptional bar & events space situated on the Mezzanine of the iconic Royal Exchange in the heart of the City of London. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Bar Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of Engel Bar.
The ideal candidate will be a confident and engaging leader with strong knowledge of cocktails, wines and spirits, excellent customer service skills, and a genuine passion for hospitality. You will take ownership of the bar operation, lead and develop the team, manage stock and costs, and ensure our guests consistently receive an exceptional experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily bar operations, ensuring consistently high standards of service and guest satisfaction.
- Lead, train, motivate and develop the bar team, creating a positive and professional working environment.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
- Develop and maintain an exciting and commercially successful cocktail offering, keeping up to date with industry trends.
- Monitor and control stock levels, place orders and minimise waste.
- Manage beverage costs, budgets and financial performance to maximise profitability.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements, licensing regulations and company procedures.
- Handle guest enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally and effectively.
- Work closely with the wider management and events teams to ensure smooth delivery of private events and functions.
- Drive team development and maintain consistently high operational standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Bar Manager or in a similar leadership role within a high-quality hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits and bar operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Strong commercial awareness, including stock management, cost control and budgeting.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
- Experience using POS systems and inventory management software.
- Flexibility to work evenings and Saturdays as required.
What We Offer
- Salary up to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience and to be discussed at interview.
- Monday to Saturday operation – we are closed on Sundays.
