Engage is currently working on a number of exciting opportunities which require training needs analysis support. We recognise that experienced Defence training professionals value flexibility in how they work. As such, this role can be fulfilled either as a permanent PAYE position or through our Engage Associate (contractor) model. Both engagement types are integral to our delivery approach, and all individuals are treated as trusted members of the Engage team, with access to the same professional standards, governance, and support structures.
The role requires experienced Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) specialists and practitioners to lead and deliver Training Needs Analysis (TNA) activities. The post holder will provide Training Lines of Development (TLoD) support across acquisition and organisational development programmes and establish and manage the Management of Training System. The role also includes responsibility for delivering associated training management activities, including governance, assurance, and ongoing training support.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) specialist, influencing, shaping, and driving innovation across Project and Programme Training Lines of Development (TLoDs).
- Lead, conduct, coordinate, and manage Training Needs Analysis (TNA) activities in accordance with JSP 822 policy and supporting guidance, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and value-for-money systems of training for Defence.
- Provide TLoD support to acquisition, equipment, and organisational development programmes, ensuring that new capabilities enter service fully supported by appropriate and proportionate training solutions.
- Work in partnership with industry and internal stakeholders to ensure emerging specialisms, equipment, and capabilities are underpinned by coherent, sustainable training and workforce development arrangements.
- Design, develop, and manage efficient, effective, and safe HR capability development pipelines, delivering value-for-money (VfM) training and career development packages in line with JSP 822 policy.
- Ensure cohesion, alignment, and economies of scale across project training design teams and other Defence Lines of Development (DLoDs).
- Create, coordinate, and manage auditable Management of Training (MoT) systems, including the production and governance of DSAT documentation in accordance with JSP 822 and supporting guidance.
- Deliver training management, assurance, and governance activities to assure compliance, quality, and continuous improvement.
Essential Experience/Qualifications
- Expertise in management and governance of Defence Safe Systems of Training (SSoT).
- Level 7 CIPD accredited qualification in adult education and/or training, e.g. PgCert, PgCE, PgDip or Masters.
- Qualified in Training Needs Analysis (TNA), Role Analysis, Defence Training Design and Assurance as per JSP 822.
- Defence TNA practitioner experience at the project level.
- Possession of an NQF Level 6 Project Management qualification or higher, such as the Association for Project Management Project Fundamentals Qualification (APM PFQ) or PRINCE2 certification.
- Proficient in Risk Management, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks.
- Strong in Stakeholder Engagement, building collaborative relationships.
Desirable experience/Qualifications
- DSAT within the Acquisition System intermediate knowledge and experience, including CADMID Cycle and MoD KiD Foundation level.
- Training analysis role at Programme level within the Acquisition System.
- MoR (Management of Risk) Practitioner or equivalent certification.
- TEL and/or Synthetics training specialist.
- Skilled in Planning and Scheduling for efficient project timelines.
