Engage Technical Solutions (ETS) is a specialist engineering and technical consultancy operating across Defence and other highly regulated sectors. As an Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) Manager, you will provide client-facing advisory, delivery, and assurance support to defence programmes across the full equipment lifecycle. You will work with MOD and Defence Industry clients to shape, integrate, and assure support solutions, applying Integrated Logistic Support principles and Defence Standards proportionately to programme maturity, risk, and complexity. The role operates across multiple programmes and stakeholders and requires strong professional judgement, technical breadth, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- ILS Strategy and Support Solution Development: Develop, review, and maintain Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) strategies, Integrated Logistic Support Plans (ILSPs), and subordinate element plans. Contribute to the definition, assessment, and maturation of Support Solutions, including understanding of the Support Solution Envelope, associated cross-cutting themes, and core development areas. Support engagement with Support Solution Officers and delivery teams to ensure coherence between support intent and implementation. Undertake options analysis and trade-offs to balance performance, cost, risk, and availability.
- Lifecycle Support Integration: Deliver ILS activities across all lifecycle phases, including concept, design, manufacture, entry into service, in-service support, upgrade, and disposal. Coordinate and assure Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) activities, drawing together specialist inputs covering maintenance, spares and provisioning, support equipment, training, and support data. Review and assure support artefacts and bodies of evidence against programme milestones and support objectives.
- Standards, Governance, and Assurance: Apply MOD policy, Defence Standards, and support governance frameworks appropriately, including Def Stan 00-600 and related Defence Standards. Apply knowledge and understanding of IETPs and ASD S-Series standards within defence support environments. Provide assurance of ILS deliverables, ensuring compliance, coherence, and fitness for purpose.
- Stakeholder and Programme Engagement: Act as a key ILS interface with clients, delivery teams, and industry partners. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple organisations. Support bid and proposal activity, including development of ILS approaches, assumptions, risks, and cost inputs.
- Leadership and Professional Contribution: Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to ILS practitioners within project teams. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of ETS ILS capability, methods, and ways of working.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Essential: Experience in Integrated Logistic Support, Supportability, or Through-Life Support roles within Defence or comparable regulated environments. Knowledge and application of Defence Standards relevant to ILS, including Def Stan 00-600. Understanding of defence support concepts, end-to-end support chains, and lifecycle management. Knowledge and understanding of the Support Solution Envelope and support solution development processes. Knowledge and understanding of IETPs and ASD S-Series standards. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and report-writing skills. Ability to operate effectively across multiple programmes and stakeholders. Incorporated Engineer and Membership of a relevant professional institution. Eligible to hold UK Security Clearance (SC).
Desirable: Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in engineering, logistics, or a related discipline. Experience working with MOD customers and/or defence industry primes. Experience supporting bids, proposals, or commercial activities. Chartered Engineer and Membership of a relevant professional institution.
