We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with a number of our partner schools in the Hassocks area. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to young people who may face social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, helping them to re-engage with learning and reach their full potential.

About the Role:

  • Providing targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Building positive, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, understood, and motivated
  • Supporting pupils to manage emotions, develop coping strategies, and improve behaviour for learning
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and other professionals to implement personalised support plans

This is an inclusive all-through SEN setting supporting pupils from Key Stage 1 to 4, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Students have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, often alongside Autism, ADHD, communication challenges, or social anxieties. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. You’ll receive ongoing training and support in SEMH strategies, behaviour management, and safeguarding, while gaining valuable experience in schools that follow the national curriculum but adapt provision to meet individual needs.
