Trainee Positive Behaviour Mentors Required! We are looking for passionate individuals who want to begin working and training as Behaviour Mentors to support our SEND School in Crawley by helping children and young people with SEMH needs (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs). Applications for the position are welcome from candidates of ranging experience, and training will be provided, although previous experience working with students with SEMH will be helpful. A strong sense of behaviour management will also be key!

This role is within one of our Pupil Referral Units, meaning there will be a range of behavioural needs within the provision. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting children with Social and Emotional Needs. This role will be supporting secondary aged children. Anyone from a youth support, support worker or care worker background, or personal SEND experience is strongly encouraged to apply! Training will be provided to all applicants so the ideal candidate just needs to be passionate, eager to learn and be very resilient. If this sounds like you please apply! Your Role

  • Supporting vulnerable children from KS3 to KS4
  • Be able to appropriately calm children down and de-escalate
  • Be able to effectively manage behaviour
  • Work with other support staff to engage pupils in class and minimise disruption
  • Provide feedback to teachers and parents
  • Be available – Full time – 8.15am – 3.30pm

  • Outgoing and mentoring manner
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about helping children reach their full potential
  • Expected to think on your feet and be proactive; no day is the same in a Special School, so being prepared is vital.
  • Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
