Positive Behaviour Mentor Required for School in Lancing

This school is set in Lancing and is an all through school for vulnerable students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. They are looking for someone to support pupils in the Primary or Secondary side of the school. This role is within one of alternative provisions, meaning there will be a range of behavioural needs within the provision. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting children with Social and Emotional Needs. Applications for the position are welcome from candidates of ranging experience, and training will be provided, although previous experience working with students with SEMH, particularly attachment and trauma is preferable. Experience working with children with challenging behaviour is important and a strong sense of behaviour management is key.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting a range of vulnerable children ranging from Reception to KS4
  • Be able to appropriately calm children down and de-escalate
  • Be able to effectively behaviour manage
  • Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class and minimise disruption
  • Providing feedback to teachers and parents
  • Be available – Full time – 8.15am – 3.30pm
The ideal candidate
  • Outgoing and mentoring manner
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about helping children reach their full potential
  • You will be expected to think on your feet and be proactive, no day is the same in a Special School, so being prepared is vital.
  • Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
  • Have a Grade C/equivalent or higher in both GCSE Maths & English
