We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Sports Graduate to join the dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Department within a welcoming secondary school.

The SEN Department supports students with a range of needs, including

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

  • Other additional learning needs

Working alongside experienced teachers and specialist staff, you will play an important role in helping students succeed academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As a Sports Graduate, you will work across both the classroom and PE environments, providing tailored support to students with additional needs.

You’ll use your enthusiasm for sport to encourage participation, promote wellbeing and develop students’ confidence while also supporting learning throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students within lessons to help them access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Deliver and assist with engaging PE lessons, sports activities and intervention programmes.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with additional learning needs.
  • Use sport and physical activity to promote confidence, teamwork, resilience and positive behaviour.
  • Adapt activities to ensure all students can participate successfully regardless of ability.
  • Build positive relationships with students, acting as a consistent and encouraging role model.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and wider pastoral team to support individual learning plans.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to behaviour and learning records where required.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive environment at all times.
  • Attend staff meetings, training and professional development opportunities.
  • We’re Looking For
  • A degree in Sports Science, Physical Education or a related subject.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting students with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, patient and resilient approach.
  • The ability to motivate and engage secondary-aged students.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
  • An interest in pursuing a career in education, SEN, youth work or sports coaching would be advantageous.
