Engage Education are currently working with a thriving special school in Wakefield who are urgently seeking a candidate from a Support Work/Residential Care background to work in a Special Needs Teaching Assistant capacity to support their secondary aged pupils with Autism, Learning Disabilities and Physical Disabilities. We are recruiting for people who are available on a full-time basis to work 08:30 – 15:30 term time only to start from January.

About the role:

  • To support the Class Teacher to prepare resources and deliver lessons
  • Work with all pupils in class to manage behaviours associated with their SEND Needs
  • Provide a fun and engaging learning environment
  • Adhere to all school policies
  • Assist with feeding and changing when required

We welcome applicants with a good understanding of working with people with Learning/Physical Disabilities that are enthusiastic about raising the attainment of pupils with SEND. You will ideally have experience in supporting children or adults with Autism or Learning Disabilities in a residential or supported living capacity. We also welcome applications from people that have worked in schools previously in a similar role. By being proactive and taking initiative, you are going to be able to build relationships with students and gain knowledge of a wide variety of needs.
