About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, compassionate, and motivated to make a meaningful difference. You will work closely with lecturers and support staff to provide consistent, person‑centred support and help create a calm, positive, and empowering learning environment.
Key responsibilities
- Support teaching staff in delivering personalised learning programmes
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to promote engagement, communication, and independence
- Assist learners with emotional regulation, sensory needs and daily routines
- Implement strategies that encourage positive behaviour and develop life skills
- Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support teams to ensure consistent support
Essential skills & attributes
- Experience supporting young people or adults with SEND (ASD, learning disabilities and/or complex needs desirable)
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to follow individual support plans and positive behaviour strategies
