Engage Education is currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Teacher / Lecturer to join an outstanding specialist college in Southwark, supporting students with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities, including ASD and complex needs. Learners follow a personalised curriculum designed to promote both academic progress and personal development. The college places a strong emphasis on building independence, helping students develop the skills they need to become confident and active members of the community.

As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and leading a team of support staff to ensure the success and progress of all learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver effective teaching and learning within the assigned curriculum area.
  • Organise learning experiences in a structured and progressive sequence that supports each student’s individual development.
  • Carry out assessment, target setting, recording, reporting, and evaluation of educational programmes.
  • Manage and supervise team members effectively, including volunteers, students, and visitors when required.
  • Take part in staff development activities and contribute to the planning and delivery of training to enhance professional skills.
Key Requirements
  • Hold a Certificate of Education (CertEd) or an equivalent teaching qualification, or be currently completing (or willing to undertake) the CertEd.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess, record, report, and evaluate educational programmes effectively.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, carers, and other professionals.
  • Show a strong belief that learners with special educational needs can achieve meaningful progress.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, upholding the College’s Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, and Health & Safety policies.
