About the role

At Engage, we’re working with schools in Salford to recruit daily Cover Supervisors who can support on a supply basis to cover planned and unplanned sickness. You can set your own availability each week, so we welcome applications from those available part‑time or full‑time.

No requirement for prior cover supervisor experience, but a degree is mandatory. Experience working with young people (e.g., support workers, youth workers) is desirable. Good interpersonal skills and adaptability to manage challenging classroom situations.

Your Role as a Cover Supervisor

  • Supervise pupils to carry out pre‑planned work while teaching staff are absent due to sickness or leave.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and ensure pupils complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist pupils with questions.
  • Follow the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies.
  • Collect completed work and hand it to the Head of Department.
  • Provide feedback on the lesson and pupils’ progress.
