Engage Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Middleton that is looking to appoint a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your practical experience while supporting children with a range of learning, communication and social-emotional needs.
About the role
Working alongside experienced teachers and the school’s SEND team, you’ll provide classroom support, deliver targeted interventions and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting children on a one-to-one basis and in small intervention groups
- Working with pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD and speech and language difficulties
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Building positive relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and independence
- Helping prepare learning resources and providing feedback on pupil progress
- Supporting children both inside and outside the classroom
This role offers excellent experience for graduates considering careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Teaching, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy or Child Mental Health.
The ideal candidate
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds a degree in Psychology (or a closely related subject)
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people
- Is patient, resilient and empathetic
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Has excellent communication skills
- Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential
