We’re looking for a caring, patient, and enthusiastic 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Mitcham. This rewarding role involves providing dedicated support to a Reception-aged pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop key social skills, and thrive in the classroom environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with SEND experience who is passionate about making a positive impact during the crucial early years of a child’s education.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with Special Educational Needs
- Supporting the pupil with their learning, communication, and emotional development throughout the school day
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support strategies
- Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and confidence both inside and outside the classroom
- Assisting with sensory activities, play-based learning, and transitions throughout the day
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil to help them achieve their full potential
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within an EYFS or primary school setting
- Experience working on a 1:1 basis is desirable
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
