We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in South Manchester from September. The successful candidate will support students across a range of subjects, helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and personally. As a Teaching Assistant you will be working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and SEND colleagues, playing a key role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students in lessons across the secondary curriculum.
  • Assist teachers with classroom preparation and learning activities.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
  • Support students with additional learning needs.
  • Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working in a school setting, preferably within a secondary school.
  • Experience supporting young people aged 11–16.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A patient, flexible, and proactive approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in a Secondary school.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or EAL needs.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
