About the role

Engage Education is recruiting for 2 experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to join a fantastic primary school in Wythenshawe from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity within the school’s dedicated SEND unit, supporting children with a range of complex needs, predominantly Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and speech, language and communication needs. The provision is currently undergoing an exciting expansion over the summer, creating an even better learning environment for pupils. As part of the development, the unit will have its own purpose-built outdoor area, allowing children to access continuous provision in a safe, nurturing and engaging setting.

You’ll be working alongside an experienced and supportive team, helping pupils access learning through tailored activities, communication strategies and sensory-based approaches, while encouraging independence and celebrating every achievement.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND within a UK school
  • Experience working with children with Autism and communication needs
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • Confidence supporting pupils with sensory and emotional regulation
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for making a difference to children’s lives

Experience using PECS, Makaton, Attention Autism, Team Teach or other positive behaviour support strategies would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.

Why work with Engage Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay
  • Free CPD, including SEND, Autism, Team Teach and Safeguarding training
  • Your own dedicated consultant with excellent local school relationships
  • £50 Amazon voucher for every successful referral
  • Access to wellbeing support, retail discounts and travel offers

All applicants will be subject to the appropriate safeguarding and compliance checks, including an enhanced DBS check. Full support will be provided throughout the compliance process.
