We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our thriving secondary school in South Manchester from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate considering a career in education, teaching, educational psychology, or youth development.

Working alongside experienced teachers and pastoral staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ academic progress, wellbeing and personal development across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who want to move into a career in teaching. You will benefit from in-depth support and training from the school, and develop your knowledge of the national curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students in lessons across a range of subjects.
  • Deliver small-group and one-to-one interventions to help raise attainment.
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom management and assessment activities.
  • Support students aged 11-16 years old.
  • Provide targeted support for students with additional learning needs.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Support extracurricular activities, enrichment programmes and school events.
  • Contribute to students’ pastoral care and wellbeing.
About You

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Are graduates.
  • Have a genuine interest in working with young people.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Are organised, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate patience, resilience and a positive attitude.
  • Have previous experience working with children or young people in holiday clubs, sports clubs, youth work (desirable but not essential).
  • Have a valid enhanced DBS check before starting work.
