We are working with a Secondary school in South Manchester who are seeking a proactive, resilient, and approachable individual to join our dedicated pastoral team as a Behaviour Support Assistant. This is a key role in promoting a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment through the consistent implementation of the school’s behaviour policy.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant you will be working closely with teaching and pastoral staff. The successful candidate will respond to behaviour incidents, provide practical intervention, and support pupils in making positive behaviour choices. You will play an active role in maintaining high standards of conduct across the school, acting as a visible presence and reinforcing expectations in line with the school’s values and ethos.

Key Responsibilities- Support the implementation of the school’s behaviour policy and pastoral procedures.
- Respond promptly and professionally to behaviour incidents across the school.
- Work with pupils to de-escalate situations and promote positive behaviour choices.
- Provide targeted support and mentoring to pupils who require additional behavioural guidance.
- Maintain a visible presence around the school during lessons, transitions, breaktimes, and lunchtimes.
- Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and carers.
- Record and monitor behaviour incidents accurately using school systems.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral leaders, teachers, SEND staff, and external agencies where appropriate.
- Assist with reintegration meetings, restorative conversations, and behaviour interventions.
- Support pupils in developing strategies for self-regulation, emotional wellbeing, and engagement with learning.
- Contribute to a safe, orderly, and respectful school environment.
- Experience of working with young people in an educational, youth work, pastoral, or support setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
