Engage Education is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a range of welcoming and inclusive primary schools in Tower Hamlets from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced SEND Teaching Assistants, graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with a background in care, childcare, youth work, or support work who are committed to helping children thrive both academically and socially.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
• Support children with a range of additional needs, including
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Moderate and Specific Learning Difficulties (MLD/Sp LD)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs and support access to the curriculum.
- Encourage communication, independence, confidence, and social development.
- Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to ensure pupils receive high-quality support.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child can succeed.
- We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND is desirable.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
