About the role
As a Family Liaison Officer, you will act as a key link between the school, pupils and their families.
You will work closely with parents/carers and school staff to identify barriers to learning, attendance and well being, providing practical support and helping families access appropriate services where required.
- Previous experience working with children, young people or families is essential

Your Role as a Family Liaison Officer
As a Family Liaison Officer, you’ll be responsible for developing positive relationships with families and supporting pupils to overcome barriers that may affect their education, attendance or well being.
You will work as part of the wider pastoral and safeguarding team and may liaise with external agencies where appropriate.
- Building strong, positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers and school staff
- Supporting families with issues that may impact a pupil’s attendance, behaviour, well being or educational progress
- Promoting and improving pupil attendance and punctuality
- Identifying families who may require additional support and making appropriate referrals
- Working alongside pastoral, safeguarding and SEND teams to provide joined-up support
- Communicating with parents/carers by phone, email and in person
- Supporting families to access relevant external services and community resources
- Maintaining accurate and confidential records of meetings, communication and interventions
- Attending meetings with parents/carers and relevant professionals where required
- Supporting the school with safeguarding and early-help processes
- Following the school’s safeguarding, confidentiality and child protection policies
- Contributing to a positive, inclusive and supportive school environment
