Engage Education is working with a number of secondary schools across Southwark to recruit skilled Design & Technology Teachers for full-time roles starting in September 2026.
We are particularly interested in teachers with experience in Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics or Food Technology, although applications from all DT specialisms are welcome.
This is an exciting opportunity to join forward-thinking schools with well-equipped workshops and supportive departments, helping students develop practical skills, creativity and confidence.
The Role
As a Design & Technology Teacher, you will
- Deliver engaging and practical DT lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience.
- Teach your specialist area while contributing to the wider Design & Technology curriculum.
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that inspire creativity, problem-solving and innovation.
- Ensure workshops and classrooms are safe, organised and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing effective feedback to support achievement.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop an engaging and ambitious curriculum.
- The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Has experience teaching Design & Technology in a secondary school setting.
- Has expertise in one or more DT disciplines, including Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics or Food Technology.
- Demonstrates excellent classroom management and practical workshop management skills.
- Is passionate about developing students’ practical, technical and creative abilities.
- Has strong communication and organisational skills.
