We are working with a secondary school in the London Borough of Bexley that is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join their team on a long term basis. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with challenging behaviour, helping students regulate emotions, re-engage with learning, and make positive choices.
The Role
- Providing one to one and small group support for students with behavioural, social, or emotional needs
- Acting as a positive role model and building strong, trusting relationships with students
- Supporting behaviour management strategies within the classroom and around the school
- Helping students reflect on behaviour, understand consequences, and set clear expectations
- Working closely with pastoral staff, SEN teams, and teachers to support individual behaviour plans
- Creating a calm, safe space for students to de-escalate and reset when required
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience working with young people with challenging behaviour, either in schools, youth work, mentoring, or similar settings
- Is calm, patient, and professional, particularly in high pressure situations
- Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for young people
- Experience in education, youth work, care, or mentoring is highly desirable
