We are recruiting for a Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wetherby to support children with special educational needs. This unique opportunity allows you to gain valuable classroom experience while completing a fully funded Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship. You would be supporting primary aged children in class as a General Classroom Teaching Assistant as well as supporting children on a 1:1 basis with additional needs such as Autism.

About the Role

As a Trainee Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional learning, behavioural, or emotional support within a supportive school setting.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Working with children with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
  • Helping pupils build confidence, engagement, independence, and emotional regulation skills
  • Supporting classroom learning across literacy, numeracy, and targeted interventions
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom resources
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting inclusion throughout the school
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
