We are currently recruiting on behalf of a friendly and inclusive primary school in South Leeds for a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in helping children develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
The Role
As a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will support the class teacher in delivering engaging and creative learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. You will work closely with children both inside and outside the classroom, supporting their educational, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the delivery of high-quality EYFS learning activities.
- Working with individual pupils and small groups to develop early literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
- Encouraging learning through play and child‑led activities.
- Assisting with classroom preparation and the creation of engaging learning environments.
- Supporting children’s personal, social, and emotional development.
- Helping to monitor and record pupil progress.

The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children within an EYFS, nursery, preschool, or primary school setting.
- A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach.
- Good understanding of child development and the EYFS curriculum.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Relevant childcare or teaching assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
