Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver individualized lessons, designing creative, differentiated lesson plans tailored to each child’s needs and abilities.
- Foster holistic development by supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional growth, encouraging confidence and independence.
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), collaborating with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- Create a positive learning environment by establishing an inclusive and structured classroom where children feel safe, valued, and inspired.
- Assess and monitor progress, regularly evaluating student achievements and adapting teaching strategies for continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other staff to provide comprehensive support for each student.
- Promote inclusion by championing a culture of acceptance and understanding across the school community.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience or a specialist qualification in SEN teaching (desirable).
- A strong understanding of the primary curriculum and how to adapt it to meet diverse learning needs.
- Expertise in working with children with a range of SEN, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), speech and language difficulties, and developmental delays.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, families, and staff effectively.
- Creativity, patience, and resilience to meet the challenges and celebrate the achievements of SEN teaching.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies, sensory strategies, and alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECs) is advantageous.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
