Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in your career?
We are currently working with a specialist SEN school in Cambridge that is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their supportive team.
The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils with a range of special educational needs, and is looking for someone who is passionate about helping young people develop academically, socially and emotionally.
The Role
As an HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide high-quality learning and pastoral support. You will have the opportunity to take on increased responsibility within the classroom and contribute to pupilsβ individual learning and development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with a range of SEN, including autism and associated needs.
- Working alongside teachers to deliver engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Leading small-group and individual interventions.
- Supporting classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Providing 1:1 support where required.
- Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
- Supporting with lesson preparation, planning and classroom resources.
- Taking responsibility for learning activities when required.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
- Supporting pupilsβ individual education and behaviour plans.
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
- Has experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar.
- Holds an HLTA qualification, or has experience working at an HLTA/Senior Teaching Assistant level.
- Has strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Is confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
- Is patient, resilient and nurturing.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Is passionate about supporting children and young people to reach their potential.
Experienced SEN Teaching Assistants who are ready to progress into an HLTA position are also encouraged to apply.
