Engage Education is recruiting Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a number of welcoming and supportive primary schools in Haringey from September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, leading small group interventions, and covering whole classes during teacher release time or short-term absences.
The Role
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will
- Deliver pre-planned lessons across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2 when teachers are absent or out of class.
- Lead small group and 1:1 intervention programmes to raise pupil attainment.
- Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including those with SEND.
- Work closely with class teachers to plan, prepare, and adapt learning activities.
- Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
- Promote positive behaviour and create an engaging, inclusive learning environment.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school and support whole-school initiatives where appropriate.
- We’re Looking For
- HLTA status or significant experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a UK primary school.
- Confidence leading whole-class learning across different year groups.
- Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- A proactive, flexible, and organised approach.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
