Engage Education is working with a welcoming and ambitious secondary school to recruit a part-time Food Technology Technician for a September 2026 start. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in food preparation, catering, or an educational environment to support the delivery of practical Food Technology lessons. The successful candidate will play a key role within the department, ensuring lessons are well-resourced, safe, and effectively supported, helping students develop practical skills and confidence within Food Technology.
About the role:
- Preparing ingredients, equipment, and resources for Food Technology lessons
- Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons where required
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised food preparation environment
- Ensuring compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH procedures
- Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate records
- Ensuring ingredients are stored correctly, including allergen management
- Cleaning, maintaining, and checking food technology equipment
- Reporting faults, defects, and safety concerns when required
- Supporting the preparation of teaching materials and classroom resources
- Assisting with departmental administration and organisation
About you:
- Experience working in food preparation, catering, or a similar practical environment
- Interest in working within an educational setting
- Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety procedures
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Good attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards
- Confident supporting staff and students within practical lessons
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Good communication skills and a positive approach
- Willingness to complete relevant training, including Food Hygiene and First Aid if required
